"Won't niching down lose me followers?"
Q: "People tell me to niche down, but won't picking one topic shrink my audience? I don't want to cut people off."
Short answer: Niching down (narrowing to one clear topic) doesn't shrink your audience — it shrinks your competition for attention. A broad page about "marketing, life, and mindset" sounds bigger but gives nobody a reason to follow versus the 500 other generalists.
The myth treats reach like a bucket you fill. It's actually a magnet. The narrower your magnet, the more specific people it pulls hard, and those people share you with others exactly like them. That's how small niches grow fast.
You can always widen later from a position of trust. Starting wide just means being forgettable to everyone.
Try this today: Finish this sentence in one line — "I help ___ do ___." If it takes more than one line, you're still too broad.
