Case #053: One offer versus a stack

Case #053: One offer versus a stack

Weight-loss traffic, $2,600. The question: run a single front-end offer clean, or stack an upsell funnel — front-end plus a one-click bump plus a downsell.

Single offer: $1,300 spent, 142 conversions at $19 commission, $2,698 back, 107% up. Simple, fast to build, easy to read. A good campaign.

Stacked funnel: $1,300 spent, same traffic. Front-end took 119 conversions (fewer — the multi-step funnel leaked some buyers who bounced at the upsell). But 34% took the $39 bump and 12% took the downsell. Total revenue: $3,940, 203% up. Nearly double the back-end on the same ad spend.

The tradeoff isn't free. The stack converted 16% fewer front-end buyers because every extra step is a door someone walks out of. It took three times longer to build and broke twice when the upsell logic glitched and double-charged two customers — refunds and a chargeback ate $180.

The split: single offer maximizes front-end conversion rate and simplicity. Funnel stack maximizes revenue-per-buyer at the cost of conversion rate, build time, and breakage risk.

Final arc: single offer 107% up and bulletproof. Stacked funnel 203% up and fragile — the extra 96 points came entirely from the people who said yes twice.

The lesson: a funnel stack trades a little conversion and a lot of simplicity for the buyers willing to say yes again — worth it only when your average order value has room to climb.
