In Google Search Console, open Performance → Search results and start with Queries. Define your brand list before filtering: company name, domain, product names, abbreviations, and common misspellings.
Create two views:
• Brand: queries matching those terms.
• Non-brand: queries that do not match them.
A case-insensitive regex such as (brand|brandname|productname) works well. Add variants carefully so short terms do not match unrelated queries.
Compare clicks, impressions, CTR, and average position for each segment. Non-brand clicks are the cleaner signal for discovery; brand clicks often reflect existing awareness. Check the split by page and country as well, since sitewide growth can hide a weak landing page or market.
If non-brand impressions rise but clicks do not, inspect titles, snippets, search intent, and SERP competition. Recheck the filter whenever you add a product, rename the brand, or publish content targeting new markets.
Use brand data as an awareness signal, but judge organic acquisition primarily through non-brand trends.
