GSC counts Google search clicks to your site. GA4 counts sessions after its tag loads. Those are different events, so a gap is expected even on a healthy account.
Main reasons:
— A click can land on a page where GA4 never fires: slow load, blocked script, consent denied, JavaScript error.
— One click can create more than one session if the same person returns after the session expires.
— GA4 can count traffic that GSC never sees: direct visits, email, social, referrals, and other search engines.
— Search Console can include clicks that later bounce before the page fully loads, while GA4 never records them.
Also check the basics: timezone settings, internal traffic filters, redirects, canonical changes, and whether you compare the same landing page set. A query in GSC may drive clicks to multiple URLs, while GA4 groups users by sessions and pages seen.
Use both tools for different jobs: GSC for search demand and click behavior, GA4 for on-site engagement and conversions. If the gap is huge, look first at tag firing and landing-page load issues.
