The 'save' is the most underrated B2B engagement signal

The 'save' is the most underrated B2B engagement signal

The question: among likes, comments, shares and saves, which engagement type best predicts that content is doing real buyer work?

The dataset: platform-reported engagement breakdowns plus creator analyses correlating each action type with downstream behavior (profile visits, follows, return engagement) across tens of thousands of posts.

Three findings:
— Saves and 'sends' (direct shares to a DM) correlated more strongly with later conversion-adjacent actions than public likes did.
— A save is a private vote of utility — the user is bookmarking for a future task, a strong intent signal even at low volume.
— High-save posts skewed toward frameworks, checklists and reference content, not opinion pieces.

Caveats: save data is sparse and not consistently exposed across platforms, so samples are small; correlation with conversion isn't causation. Treat as directional.

What it means for B2B: vanity metrics reward the loudest reactions; saves reward the most useful content — the kind buyers return to during evaluation. Track save-rate as a quality metric even though it's small, and deliberately build reference assets people will bookmark.

Bottom line: a like says 'nice'; a save says 'I'll need this' — and the second one buys.
