Buying a dwell-time analytics tool vs the re-read test
Everyone says: "Track dwell time per post — it's the metric the algorithm cares about most."
The claim: you need a tool measuring seconds-on-post to optimize.
What's actually true: LinkedIn doesn't expose true dwell time to any third-party tool — they're estimating it from impression and expand counts, which is a guess dressed as a measurement. You're paying for a proxy. The honest signal is simpler: would you stop scrolling and read this yourself, twice?
Use the tools for what they actually have — reaction and comment trends. Don't pay for a "dwell time" number that's reverse-engineered fiction.
It's not the dwell metric. It's that no tool can see it, and you're optimizing a number someone made up.
