Everyone says: "Long posts perform better — more dwell time, more reach."

The claim: length is a reach dial, turn it up.

What's actually true: long posts earn dwell time but cost completion — many readers bounce before the end, and an unfinished read is a weaker signal than a fully-consumed short one. Short posts win replies and shares; long posts win saves and authority. They serve opposite jobs.

Write short when you want a conversation in the comments. Write long when you want to be the reference someone bookmarks and quotes later.

Length isn't a reach setting. It's a tradeoff between being talked-to and being saved, and you keep picking the wrong side.
