Giving one quote vs. offering several
When you answer a query, you can hand the reporter a single tight quote or a small menu of two or three. Each has a place.
1. One quote — focused and confident. Best when the question is narrow and you have a clear, strong opinion.
2. A few quotes — gives the reporter options to choose from. Best when the question is broad ("tips for beginners") and you're not sure which angle they'll run.
Think of it like a gift. Sometimes one perfect present beats a basket of small ones. But if you don't know their taste, a small basket lets them pick.
The warning: more than three quotes turns helpful into homework. Keep the menu short, and label them so the reporter can copy one cleanly.
Try this today: take a broad query and draft exactly two distinct quotes — one bold, one practical.
