Meet a real locksmith in Houston buried under fakes. Above him in the map pack: "24/7 Fast Locksmith," "Cheap Lock Pros" — keyword-stuffed names, no real address, listings that were pure spam. He was losing honest calls to ghosts.

You can fight this. Most people never try.

The spam-fighting playbook:

— Document each fake: screenshot the stuffed name, the fake address, the lack of signage
— Use Google's Business Redressal Complaint Form — the formal channel, not "suggest an edit"
— Report keyword-stuffed names specifically ("24/7 Fast" isn't their legal name)
— Submit evidence the address is a vacant lot or residential — Street View screenshots help
— File patiently, one per submission, and re-file if ignored

Weeks passed with the fakes still ranking. He was ready to quit.

Then two of the worst offenders dropped off the map entirely. With the spam cleared, his legitimate listing rose into the pack naturally. Calls up 30 a month — calls that had been going to businesses that didn't exist.

The lesson: spam in your map pack isn't permanent furniture. The redressal form works, but only for the people willing to document and file.
