How far ahead do I prep seasonal content, and how?
Q: I keep missing the window on seasonal posts. What's the right timing playbook?
A: Short answer: publish 60-90 days before peak. Longer answer, my calendar method:
— Map last year's traffic in Search Console — find when each seasonal term actually starts climbing.
— Work backwards: publish 2-3 months before that climb so the page has time to rank.
— For evergreen-seasonal pages (recurs yearly): don't republish — refresh and update the existing URL each year.
— Update the title's year only if searchers include it; otherwise leave it evergreen.
— Re-promote and re-link the refreshed page ~6 weeks before peak.
The mistake is publishing in-season — you'll rank just as demand dies. Plant early.
