Manual GSC checks vs automated index monitoring (IndexCheckr/RankMath)
Checking index status by hand doesn't scale past a few dozen URLs. When do you automate?
Tools like IndexCheckr, SEO Index Check, or Rank Math's index-status column poll Google (via API or scraping) and alert when a page falls out of the index, which manual checking never catches in time.
Pros (automated): catches deindexation drift, bulk status, historical charts, alerts.
Cons (automated): costs ($15-50/mo typical), scraping tools risk inaccuracy/blocks, API ones eat your 2k/day quota.
Pros (manual): free, authoritative per URL.
Cons (manual): no monitoring over time, you find out a page deindexed weeks late.
Best for automated: sites over ~500 important URLs where silent deindexation costs real traffic. NOT for a 30-page brochure site, manual is plenty there. 4/5 automation once index drift is a real risk.
