An automation is an email that sends itself when something happens, no clicking 'send' from you. The easiest first one is a simple follow-up to new subscribers.
Build it in three steps:

1. Choose the trigger: 'when someone joins the list.' Every tool has this ready-made.

2. Add one email: a friendly check-in two days after they sign up.

3. Turn it on and add yourself as a test subscriber to watch it fire.
