How do I reverse-engineer a competitor's winning article?
Q: A competitor outranks me on a key term. How do I systematically beat their page?
A: Short answer: out-cover, out-prove, out-structure them. Longer answer, my teardown:
— Read their ranking page fully. List every H2/subtopic they cover.
— Note the gaps: questions they skip, outdated info, missing examples, weak visuals.
— Check the "People Also Ask" and related searches — those are subtopics to add.
— Find what THEY have that you lack (a calculator, a table, original data) and one-up it.
— Match their depth on shared points, then add 2-3 things only you provide (real experience, a unique angle).
Don't just write longer. Write more useful and more complete on the exact intent.
Anyone want me to go deeper on this? React 👍
