Matching color across clips so your Shorts look pro: 4 steps
Mismatched shots scream amateur even with great content. Standardize it.
— Lock white balance and exposure manually at recording — fixing in post is twice the work
— In the editor, set one clip as the 'reference' and eyeball-match the rest to it
— Apply ONE LUT or preset across all clips, then adjust per-clip exposure only
— Pull a slight S-curve for contrast, lift the shadows a touch for phone screens
— Export a 3-second test, view on a phone in daylight, then commit
Tools: CapCut free has per-clip adjust; DaVinci Resolve free if you want real color tools.
Verdict: consistency beats a fancy grade. One simple look applied everywhere wins. Skip paid LUT packs early — Resolve's free tools cover it. Not for one-shot phone-only creators.
