Checklist: Audit and Shorten Your Redirect Chain
Every hop loses mobile clicks and adds latency. Trim it.
— ☐ Trace the full chain with a header tool: count every 301/302 from click to final offer.
— ☐ Target 2 hops max (your smartlink, then the offer). 3+ is a fix.
— ☐ Replace any http hop with https; mixed protocol drops Safari/iOS clicks.
— ☐ Remove meta-refresh and JavaScript redirects; use server 302s, they survive ad-blockers.
— ☐ Confirm each hop preserves sub-IDs; a lossy hop kills attribution.
— ☐ Measure total redirect time; over 1s on mobile and users bounce mid-hop.
— ☐ Check for redirect loops (A to B to A) with a forced test click.
Fewer hops = more clicks reach the offer. This is free conversion-rate recovery.
Repeat the audit monthly and after any new offer or network add.
