VWO vs Nelio A/B Testing after Google Optimize died
Google Optimize sunset in 2023 and left review-site owners scrambling. Two realistic heirs.
VWO
Pros
— Full visual editor, heatmaps, server-side testing — platform-agnostic
— Solid stats engine, won't call a winner on noise
Cons
— Enterprise pricing; overkill for one review blog
— Client-side flicker on the variant unless you tune it
Nelio A/B Testing (WordPress)
Pros
— Tests headlines, CTAs, even whole templates inside WP
— Priced for solo publishers; tests post variants natively
Cons
— WordPress-only; tied to your site's traffic ceiling
— Smaller stats muscle — slow tests on low-traffic pages
For: VWO if you run multiple sites or need heatmaps + testing in one tool. Nelio if you're one WP review site testing CTAs on a budget.
Gotcha nobody mentions: Most review pages don't have the traffic to reach significance on a button-color test in under two months. Test big swings (table vs no-table, above-fold buy button) or don't test at all.
Bottom line: Multi-site/heatmaps, VWO. Single WP site on a budget, Nelio — and only test bold changes.
