Lowest cost vs manual bidding — the maturity test
Defaulting to Lowest Cost (Meta spends to get max results, no cap) forever? Know the trade:
— Lowest Cost: best for learning and early scaling — zero friction, full delivery, the algo explores freely.
— Manual (cost cap / bid cap): for when you KNOW your numbers and need to defend a margin at scale.
The progression most miss:
— Phase 1, finding winners → Lowest Cost, let it run.
— Phase 2, profitable and scaling → layer in a cost cap so spend doesn't outrun your CPA.
Don't jump to manual bidding on day one — you'll choke delivery before the algo even learns who to target.
Risk: manual bids set from gut numbers throttle everything. Pull real CPA data first.
Graduate ONE campaign to cost cap once it's been green a week.
