This week: the tool that's gospel for US data is guessing in your Tier-3 GEO.
— Ahrefs / Semrush → deep and reliable for Tier-1 and big Tier-2 (DE, FR, BR, IN). In small GEOs their volumes are modeled, not measured — treat numbers as directional only.
— Google Keyword Planner → still the truest raw volume in thin markets because it's first-party, but bucketed ranges hurt and it inflates for advertisers.
— Local engines' own tools → Yandex Wordstat for RU/CIS, Naver for KR, Baidu Index for CN. Western tools simply don't see these SERPs properly.
— Search-suggest scraping (AlsoAsked, keyword.io) → your best signal in markets too small for any volume data; intent over volume.
Lesson: in emerging GEOs, stop chasing volume estimates and start mining autocomplete + local engine tools.
