Finding your real best posting time: a 4-step playbook
The question: when should you post — not according to a generic 'Tuesday 9am' benchmark, but for your specific audience?
Universal best-time studies aggregate millions of posts across industries, which is exactly why they don't fit your niche. A B2B audience of European engineers and one of US marketers peak at different hours.
The playbook to find yours:
— Export 60+ past posts with timestamp and reach.
— Bucket into 2-hour windows by your audience's dominant timezone, not yours.
— Compute median reach per window, not average — one viral post poisons the mean.
— Discard windows with fewer than 5 posts; they're noise, not signal.
— Cross-check against your followers' active hours in analytics, if available.
Limitations: timing effects are small relative to content quality and easily confounded — you posted your best content at your favorite time, which biases the result. Small per-window samples stay directional. The algorithm distributes over days, weakening any single hour's effect.
What it means for B2B: timing is a minor lever, not a magic one. It earns single-digit percentage gains at best, and only after content and format are handled.
Bottom line: find your window with your own data, then stop optimizing it — the returns are real but small.
