Playbook: vet an expired name's history before you buy
A clean-looking name can carry a toxic past that tanks resale value. Check before the catch fee, not after.
The vetting steps
— Wayback Machine: was it a real site or a parked/spam shell?
— Archive screenshots for foreign-language gambling or pharma — red flag
— Google the exact domain in quotes for blacklist mentions
— Check spam-tool reputation; a poisoned name needs a clean-slate period
— Look at old backlink anchors — branded is gold, keyword-stuffed is risk
📌 Pick of the day: 10 minutes in the Wayback Machine saves you from a name no end-user will touch.
Start at web.archive.org, then cross-check anchors.
