How to write a positioning statement that isn't generic
Q: "My bio says 'helping brands grow' and it feels like everyone's. How do I sharpen it?"
Short answer: positioning is how you want to be remembered in one line. Generic happens when you skip the specifics.
Fill this template, then cut:
—
I help [exact person] go from [painful before] to [clear after] through [your method].
Example: "I help freelance designers stop undercharging and book $5k projects through better proposals." Specific beats clever every time.
Test it: read it to a friend. If they can't immediately picture who it's for, it's still too broad. Add one more detail about the person or the outcome.
Try this today: fill the template once, read it aloud, then swap one vague word for a number or a named person-type.
