Checking your real SERP: incognito vs a SERP tool
Today's lesson: the search results page you see is personalized — your history bends it. To judge features fairly, you need a neutral view.
Think of looking in a mirror that flatters you versus a plain shop mirror.
1. An incognito window strips your login but keeps your location and past clicks' faint traces. Quick, free, roughly neutral.
2. A SERP tool lets you pick an exact city or country and shows the page a stranger there sees. Truly neutral, but paid.
3. For a fast gut-check, incognito; for client reports or other countries, the tool.
The tradeoff: incognito is free but still slightly 'you'; tools are clean and location-precise but cost money.
Try this: search your main keyword in incognito and in a normal tab — count how many features differ. 🎓
