Lazy loading vs priority hints: opposite tools

Lazy loading vs priority hints: opposite tools

These two settings pull in opposite directions, and that's the point. loading="lazy" tells the browser to wait on an image until it's almost on screen. A priority hint (fetchpriority="high") tells the browser to rush one image to the front of the line.

Using the wrong one on your main image hurts LCP (Largest Contentful Paint).

When each belongs:
— Footer images, things below the fold: lazy, so they don't steal early bandwidth.
— Your big hero image at the top: high priority, never lazy, so it paints fast.

Try this: open your page, find the largest image at the top, and make sure it does NOT have loading="lazy". Lazy-loading your hero is the most common LCP mistake. Removing one word can fix it.
