Outsourcing your numbers to one affiliate manager and keeping no records
The relationship mistake that looks like an ops mistake: letting a single affiliate manager be your only window into performance, with no independent record of what was agreed or delivered.
Why it burns you:
— Terms discussed on Telegram ('I'll bump your CPA to $400 this month') vanish when the manager leaves or the broker restructures. No written deal, no recourse.
— Discrepancy disputes become your word against their panel, and you have nothing to show.
The fix:
— Get every term in writing — email or signed addendum — including CPA rate, rev-share %, carryover, caps, and reconciliation method. A Telegram promise is not a deal.
— Keep your own dated log of agreed terms, sent traffic, and reconciliation gaps per broker. This is your evidence file when a dispute or a manager change happens.
— Build a relationship with a second contact at the broker (finance or a senior manager) so you're not a single point of failure away from being orphaned.
Who should skip this: nobody running meaningful volume — this is the cheapest insurance there is.
Verdict: Get it in writing, always.
