Spending 100% of reported revenue before chargebacks land
Forex FTDs reverse — chargebacks, KYC fails, fraud clawbacks, and 'quality adjustments' all hit weeks after the deposit. The mistake: reinvesting your full reported earnings immediately, then going cash-negative when the reversals arrive.
The pattern:
— Month 1 reports $50k. You scale spend to match. Month 2, $6k of Month 1's FTDs reverse and the broker nets it against your new balance. Your cash flow inverts.
— New accounts and aggressive GEOs reverse hardest, exactly when you're scaling fastest.
The fix:
— Hold back a reserve against reported revenue until it's confirmed paid. Set the percentage from your own historical reversal rate per broker — start at 10-15% on new relationships, tune from actuals.
— Track a confirmed-revenue number (post-reversal, post-payout) separately from reported, and base spend decisions only on confirmed.
— Watch reversal rate by cohort. A rising rate is an early warning of a dirty source or a souring broker relationship.
Who should skip this: validated-FTD CPA deals where reversals are the network's problem, not yours.
Verdict: Reserve against unconfirmed revenue.
