The photos that whispered the wrong city
Meet a wedding photographer in Denver who ranked for her studio's block and nowhere else. She shot all over the metro but the map only knew one street.
We looked at her uploads. Forty gorgeous images, every one stripped of location data the moment it hit her editing software.
The geo-photo playbook:
— Shoot or re-save real photos with location data intact (a free phone app can write coordinates back in)
— Name files before upload: "wedding-photographer-cherry-creek-denver.jpg"
— Upload three to five per week, never a dump of forty at once
— Cover the suburbs you serve — one shoot tagged in each
— Add a one-line caption naming the neighborhood
Weeks passed. Her core ranking held but the suburbs stayed dark.
Then the turn: a bride in Lakewood found her in the map pack for "wedding photographer near me." Then Aurora. Then Golden. Five new service-area neighborhoods inside two months. Inquiries doubled.
The lesson: Google reads everything attached to a photo, and most people scrub the very signal that tells it where they actually work.
