The protocol to prove hashtags do nothing for you
"Use trending hashtags to get on the FYP." Allegedly. No one in your feed actually ran the control. Run it:
— Take 10 similar videos. Post 5 with 3-5 niche tags, 5 with none.
— Hold caption length, post time, and content style constant.
— Compare first-hour FYP impressions across both groups.
Most find no meaningful gap, because TikTok classifies content from audio, captions, and on-screen text — not the tag string. If your test shows a lift, keep them. If not, you've been performing a ritual. Tags are a weak labeling hint, not a distribution lever. Stop treating superstition as strategy.
