Q: Surfer/Clearscope tell me which terms to add — is that the same as entity coverage?
Short answer: no. Those tools give you term frequency from top-ranking pages; entity coverage is about which distinct concepts (people, products, places, processes) your page actually addresses.
A term-frequency tool might tell you to mention 'conversion rate' four more times. That's correlation with what's already ranking, not a map of the topic. Entity coverage asks: did I cover the sub-concepts a knowledgeable reader expects — and did I define them clearly enough that a machine can link them to the right thing?
In practice: use the term tool as a checklist for gaps, not a target to hit. Then do a separate pass listing every entity (named thing) the topic implies and confirm each one is mentioned and contextualized. The second pass is what actually deepens authority — the first just helps you not miss obvious words.
