The first-three-words audit that fixed my cold open
Let me tell you what happened with a finance script that kept dying at second three. Here's the thing: I ran a checklist I now run on everything. Step one, isolate the literal first three words. Mine were "So today I'm..." Step two, ask if those words could start a hundred other videos. They could. Step three, swap in a word that only fits THIS video.
Old open: "So today I'm gonna show you a tax trick."
New open: "$4,200 back. Legally. Watch."
The result: 1-second retention went from 71% to 89%, and views on that account jumped from a 9k average to 31k on that post.
The principle: your first three words should be impossible to paste onto any other video. If they're portable, they're dead weight.
