You bought a recurring disavow service for a one-time-or-never problem.
The myth: backlink profiles need continuous "toxicity monitoring" and monthly disavow maintenance.
Actually, for the overwhelming majority of sites the correct disavow cadence is never. Google ignores the junk automatically; there's no ongoing threat that a monthly file addresses.
Reality: the recurring-monitoring package is a business model, not a Google requirement. It manufactures a problem (a red dashboard), sells the cure (monthly cleanup), and the cleanup itself quietly clips real links to keep the score "improving."
The failure mode is paying a subscription to maintain a file that, ideally, shouldn't exist — and that may be costing you the longer it runs.
The fix: treat disavow as event-driven — manual action or known bad links you built. No event, no retainer.
Reality check: "continuous toxicity monitoring" sells fear, not safety.
