Managed 'we back you up' platforms and DIY both fail, just at opposite ends
Managed backup means you never check it and discover at restore time it only kept the database, not uploads. DIY means you control everything and forget to renew the storage, so the cron's been failing silently for three months.

— DIY: total control, total responsibility to not forget
Both die the same way: nobody ran a restore. Tooling doesn't save you, the drill does. Change my mind.
