My last email went to spam. What do I check first?
Spam placement usually comes from a few fixable things, not a mystery. Walk this checklist before you panic or resend.
—
1. Check authentication: do you have SPF and DKIM set up? (DKIM is basically a signature proving the email is really from you.) Use a free tool like mail-tester.com to confirm.
—
2. Read your subject and first line out loud. Words like 'FREE!!!' and all-caps trip filters.
—
3. Look at your last 3 sends' open rates. A sudden drop means inboxes are losing trust.
✅ Run one test email through mail-tester and aim for a score above 8 out of 10.
Homework: Send yourself one email and check which folder it lands in.
