MISTAKE: Never logging your own past offers
Deal sites overwrite offers in place — new code in, old code gone, no record. So you can't answer the question users actually search ('is this Black Friday deal as good as last year?'), and you can't prove to a merchant that their offers convert better on your page.
The fix: Keep a price/offer history table per merchant and surface it: 'best code we've seen: 30% in November, typical: 15%.' It creates genuinely unique content, feeds 'is this a good deal' informational queries, and arms you with data in every affiliate-manager negotiation.
Why it matters: Offer history is the rare deal-site content that compounds — it gets more valuable every month and no scraper starting today can replicate your archive.
