Q: Are platform commerce fees worth it, or should I push everyone to my own store?
A: Do the real math, not the sticker-shock math.
Native selling charges a referral/commission fee (commonly mid-single digits to low teens percent), but in exchange you get in-app checkout that converts 2–3x higher than sending cold traffic off-platform.
Your own store keeps that fee — but cold social traffic converts low, so you're keeping more of fewer sales.
Math that settles it: if native converts at 6% and your store converts cold traffic at 2%, a 10% native fee still nets you far more total profit. The fee buys conversion you can't replicate off-platform.
Also worth knowing: send warm followers to your own store (they convert fine and you keep margin), keep cold viewers in native checkout where the higher conversion pays the fee for itself.
