Server-side (S2S) tracking recovers 15-30% of conversions pixels lose — the gap is your real, unmeasured margin
Tracking method is now a measurement-accuracy comparison, not a preference. Browser-pixel tracking and server-to-server (S2S) postback tracking increasingly report different conversion totals — and the difference is conversions you earned but can't see.
The gap, across tracked betting funnels:
— Pixel tracking fires in the browser, so it's killed by ad-blockers, ITP/cookie restrictions, cross-device journeys, and iOS privacy limits. On mobile betting traffic these losses commonly run 15-30%.
— S2S fires server-to-server on the actual FTD event via postback, independent of the browser. It captures the conversions pixels drop.
Why it changes decisions, not just reports: if pixel undercounts 20% of your FTDs, every downstream metric is wrong — your EPC looks low, your ROAS looks negative, and you kill profitable campaigns you'd have scaled with accurate data.
When pixel is acceptable: low-stakes, desktop-heavy, single-device traffic where loss is small. When S2S is mandatory: mobile-first, multi-device, privacy-restricted GEOs — i.e. most modern betting traffic.
Benchmark of the day: pixels miss 15-30% of mobile betting FTDs; S2S postbacks recover them — on mobile traffic, pixel-only data will make you kill campaigns that are actually profitable.
