Paying for ads on apps you've never heard of
New to LinkedIn Ads? When building a campaign, there's an option called the LinkedIn Audience Network — it shows your ads on third-party apps and sites outside LinkedIn. It's on by default.
For beginners it often quietly burns budget in low-quality places, padding your click count with junk traffic that rarely converts.
The fix: until you trust your campaign, turn the Audience Network off and keep spend on LinkedIn itself, where targeting is strongest. Test it separately later if you're curious.
Think of it like ordering at a trusted restaurant versus a mystery food truck two towns over.
Why it matters: knowing where your money goes is half of controlling cost.
Next step: open placement settings and switch the Audience Network off for now.
