Pinned message vs FAQ bot: solving repeat questions
The same five questions repeat forever. Two tools to absorb them.
Pinned message:
☐ Use when the answers are stable and few (under 7).
☐ Strength: zero setup, visible, edits in seconds.
☐ Weakness: members don't read pins; you'll still answer manually 60% of the time.
FAQ bot (keyword/command triggered):
☐ Use when questions are many, predictable, and high-volume.
☐ Strength: answers on demand, scales infinitely, frees your mods.
☐ Weakness: setup cost, and it fails silently when someone phrases a question it doesn't recognize.
The tradeoff: pins are cheap but passive; bots are active but brittle at the edges.
The layered SOP: pin the top 3 for visibility, bot-handle the long tail on command, and route any unrecognized question to a human within the hour. Track which questions the bot misses — that list is your next pin.
Save this for your next launch.
