Live event vs async thread: engagement tool by timezone spread
Same goal — get members talking. Two formats, chosen by how spread out your members are.
Live event (call, AMA, voice):
☐ Use when members cluster in 1-2 timezones.
☐ Strength: high energy, real-time bonding, memorable.
☐ Weakness: anyone outside the window is excluded; attendance rarely beats 10-15% of members.
Async thread (a prompt that runs over days):
☐ Use when members span many timezones.
☐ Strength: everyone participates on their schedule, contributions stack and stay searchable.
☐ Weakness: lower peak energy, easy to ignore, needs seeding to start.
The tradeoff: live maximizes intensity for the few present; async maximizes inclusion at lower intensity.
The combo: run the live event, then drop its best question as an async thread for the absent 85%. One event, two retention loops.
Save this for your next launch.
