Open auction vs private deals: where to sell
Most header bidding sells in the open auction, where any buyer can bid. A private deal is a pre-arranged price with one specific advertiser, sometimes with first pick of your slots.
— Open auction: easy, lots of demand, but prices swing with the market.
— Private deals: steadier, often higher prices, but you must set them up one by one and they can sit unfilled.
Tiny example: a finance blog might lock a $4 private deal with a bank, while open-auction bids on the same slot average $1.50.
1. Run the open auction as your base.
2. Layer private deals on top for premium slots.
In plain English: open auction fills everything; private deals pay more on your best spots.
