Share other people's insights or only my own?
Q: "Is it lazy to post quotes and other people's ideas, or should everything be original?"
Short answer: curate to start conversations, create to build authority.
Sharing someone else's insight with your reaction (curation) is genuinely useful. It shows your taste, it's fast, and adding two lines of your own commentary turns a quote into a conversation. It's not lazy if you add a real opinion.
But if everything you post is borrowed, people learn to follow the original source, not you. Original takes, mistakes, and lived experience are what make you the authority instead of the messenger.
A good ratio is mostly original, with curation when you have a strong reaction worth sharing.
Try this today: find one idea you disagree with and post your counter-take, crediting the source.
