The boring truth: scroll-tracking studies (Chartbeat, Nielsen's later work) show people scroll fine when they're engaged. What kills you isn't position, it's a fold that fails to signal "keep going." Attention follows interest, not pixels.
The nuance the slogan skipped: the fold's real job is to earn the scroll, not contain the conversion. A hero that promises payoff below it will out-convert one that dumps the form up top to a cold visitor. Optimize the handoff, not the height.
