If I'm scared of video, should I just stay text-only?
Q: "Video clearly performs better, but I freeze on camera. Can I build a brand without it?"
Short answer: yes, but borrow video's strengths in text first.
Text-only brands absolutely work, especially for writers, strategists, and B2B. So don't let fear convince you you're doomed. The reason video feels stronger is presence and voice, not the camera itself.
You can build that presence in writing by using your real voice, short sentences, and first-person stories. Then, if you ever warm up, start with the lowest-pressure format: a voice note, a screen recording, or talking over slides with no face.
Face-to-camera is the deep end, not the starting point. You can ease in over months.
Try this today: record a 30-second voice memo answering one reader question. No video, just your voice.
