Niche down hard, or stay a little broad?
Q: "People say niche down, but I'm scared of boxing myself in. How narrow is too narrow?"
Short answer: niche narrow on the problem, stay broad on the format.
Going narrow on your topic (the specific problem you solve, for a specific person) is what makes people remember you and refer you. "Email deliverability for SaaS founders" sticks; "marketing" doesn't. That focus is the asset.
Where broad helps is format and story. You can teach that one narrow topic through case studies, rants, behind-the-scenes, and personal lessons. The topic stays tight; the way you deliver it stays varied, so you never feel boxed in.
Too narrow is only a real risk if the audience can't financially sustain you. Most people are nowhere near that line.
Try this today: write your niche as "I help [who] with [one problem]."
