Self-host Prebid or use a managed wrapper?
A wrapper is the referee that runs your ad auction and collects all the bids. Prebid is the free, open-source wrapper. A managed wrapper is the same idea, but a company runs it for you for a cut of revenue.
— Prebid yourself: free, full control, but you maintain the code and chase bugs.
— Managed (like a partner's hosted wrapper): they handle updates and support, but take roughly 5 to 20 percent of revenue.
Tiny example: a solo blogger with one site usually wants managed. A team with five sites and a developer can self-host and keep that cut.
1. No dev time? Go managed.
2. Have a dev? Try Prebid.
In plain English: pay with your time, or pay with a revenue cut.
