Two reports, one keyword, completely different stories
An affiliate site saw organic sessions flat in GA4 for a quarter and assumed SEO had stalled. Search Console told the opposite story. The two were measuring different moments.
GA4 counts the click that lands and runs the tag. Search Console counts the impression and the click at Google's side, before anything renders. The clue: impressions were up 34% while GA4 sessions sat still, a classic CTR or rendering gap.
The change: we matched the queries and found a batch of pages ranking on page one with title tags truncated mid-word in the SERP.
After rewriting 19 titles, average CTR on those queries rose from 2.1% to 4.8%, and the GA4 sessions finally moved.
GSC shows demand at the door. GA4 shows who walked in. When they disagree, the gap between them is usually your fix.
