A fake-er crossed-out price added 14% to conversions
Not "fake" — a real MSRP anchor. But I'd been hiding it.
Collagen offer was just showing "$49." Buyers had nothing to compare it to. Added a crossed-out "$89" right next to it with "today only" — the $89 being the legit non-discount retail.
9-day split, same everything:
— CVR +14%
— AOV unchanged (they bought the same packages)
— Refunds flat
A price with no reference point is just a number. A price next to a higher crossed-out one is a deal. The anchor does the math in their head and the answer is "I'm saving 45%."
Never show a price naked. Anchor it. Go test it.
