How a hidden feature recovered a reader's lost 2,000-word post

A reader spent three hours writing a long post, then her browser crashed before she clicked Save. Her stomach dropped, thinking it was all gone.

It wasn't, thanks to two things WordPress does quietly in the background:
— Autosave: it saves your draft automatically every minute or so.
— Revisions: it keeps a list of older versions you can scroll back to.

Here's how she got her work back:
— She reopened the post; WordPress offered 'restore the autosave'.
— She clicked it, and about 1,950 of her 2,000 words reappeared.

She lost only the last minute of typing instead of three hours.

This is built in, so you don't need to set anything up, and restoring is completely reversible.

In plain words: WordPress quietly saves your drafts for you, so a crash rarely means losing your work.
