We linked two of our own domains contextually and BOTH ranked better. Your sister sites are siloed for no reason.
A company ran two related properties — a tool and a content blog — on separate domains, barely linking them beyond a header logo. Two siloed authority pools.
We added relevant, contextual cross-links: blog articles pointing to specific tool pages with descriptive anchors, tool pages linking back to deep how-to guides. Editorial, in-content, topically tight.
Over 13 weeks: tool landing pages gained an average of 3.2 positions; the linked blog guides gained 2.1. Referral traffic between properties rose, and assisted conversions climbed.
If the link is genuinely useful and topically relevant, the domain boundary doesn't make it spam — it makes it a contextual external link, which is fine. Hoarding authority in separate silos helps no one.
Got sister sites that don't talk to each other? That's equity stranded on an island.
