AnswerThePublic vs AlsoAsked for an FAQ-driven traffic play
I tested both on a real account for a home-insurance hub page.
AnswerThePublic
➕ Big visual spread of question modifiers; good for raw ideation
➖ Questions weren't tied to live SERPs — many had no PAA presence
AlsoAsked
➕ Pulled the actual People Also Ask tree, including the branching follow-ups Google shows
➖ Smaller volume of ideas per run
The case: I built an FAQ section from AlsoAsked's real PAA tree (14 questions Google was actively surfacing), not ATP's broad list. 6 weeks later the page captured 9 PAA slots and started ranking for 40+ new long-tail questions — +3,100 clicks/mo, mostly from queries I never explicitly targeted.
Best for: AlsoAsked when you want questions Google already asks; ATP for early brainstorming.
Price-vs-value: AlsoAsked's SERP grounding made the cheaper ideation tool redundant here.
Pick AlsoAsked to mine real PAA trees.
Skip ATP's questions for FAQ schema — many never appear in results.
