Can certain words really send you to spam?
Spam-trigger words are phrases mailboxes have learned to distrust, like "FREE!!!" in all caps or "act now." They make honest emails look like junk mail.
Why it matters: a shop's promo emails kept landing in spam, and they couldn't figure out why their content was fine.
Here's what one edit pass found:
— Step 1: read subject lines aloud and circled hype words and exclamation points
— Step 2: ✅ swapped "FREE GIFT!!!" for "a small thank-you inside"
— Step 3: re-tested placement with a free spam-score checker
Result: spam score dropped from a failing 7/10 to a healthy 2/10, and more emails reached the inbox. Same offer, calmer words.
Tiny homework: find one hype word in your last subject line. Just spot it.
